Personal Information is defined as “personally identifiable applicant/ client information that is gathered in connection with an application, pre-approval, request for information for a mortgage(s), loan(s), insurance or other products offered through Mortgage Outlet Inc., and is provided to, or collected by, Mortgage Outlet Inc., its staff, consultants, brokers, agents, associates, appraisers, real estate brokers and agents, credit bureaus, lawyers, investors, lending institutions, credit companies, and affiliates on Mortgage Outlet Inc.’s behalf”.
Mortgage Outlet Inc. is responsible for the personal information under its control and has a dedicated Privacy Officer to comply with applicable privacy legislation and the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you wish to contact us for more information, you may do so as follows:
Your full name, address and telephone, cell phone number(s); fax number(s) or email address(es);
Your occupation, your salary, duration of employment; contact numbers; address of employer;
Information on existing property and/or home(s); including principal amount(s) of 1st, 2nd Mortgages; LOC, interest, repayments and amortization schedules;
Financial and credit information about you and/or other members of your family (spouse, guarantors, etc.);
Your Social Insurance Number (SIN), and SIN’s for other members of your family; Health Information, if you are applying for life/disability Mortgage Insurance; Amount(s) of life or disability insurance, RRSP’s and other investments Provision of your social insurance number (SIN), is optional
You should note that most Credit Reporting Agencies use the SIN as a unique identifier to ensure proper identification when conducting credit reviews and/or preparing credit reports. If you do NOT wish to provide your SIN, our ability to order a timely and accurate credit report may be affected.
Your Personal Information may be used by Mortgage Outlet Inc. and its consultants, brokers, agents, associates, contractors and affiliates , to provide financial advice, recommend products and/or services to you such as: obtaining a credit bureau for mortgage(s), loan(s), insurance or other products offered through Mortgage Outlet Inc. which we think might be of interest to you
We do not sell Personal Information to third parties. We may share some or all of your Personal Information with third parties such as lenders, lawyers and their related companies, providers of products or services relating to your “home and/or mortgage(s), credit reporting agencies, financial institutions or financing companies which provide or insure mortgage(s), loan(s) relating to your home(s)”. Your Personal Information may be disclosed when we are required or permitted by law, to do so.
Your Personal Information is retained to fulfill the purposes for which it was obtained and to meet our operational and professional requirements as set out for governing regulatory bodies and/or any legal requirements, statutory or otherwise, from time to time. Mortgage Outlet will delete, destroy or make anonymous personal information within 24 months of any operational or legal requirements.
Personal Information collected from you, enables Mortgage Outlet Inc. to provide financial services in connection with an application, pre-approval, request for information for a mortgage(s), loan(s), insurance or other products offered through Mortgage Outlet Inc. We cannot provide this service without your personal information. If you do not want us to disclose your Personal Information in a particular way, please advise our Privacy Officer as described in the previous heading, “Accountability”. We will be pleased to discuss with you how we can limit collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Information.
You have the right to access the Personal Information obtained by us, per your consent, to ensure accuracy and to correct any errors. If you wish access to your Personal Information, you should contact our Privacy Officer.
Lending Institutions, Private Investors, Appraisers, Real Estate Offices, Law firms, Equifax, TransUnion, Credit companies, Banks, Finance companies, and/or Authorized staff of Mortgage Outlet Inc.
Making a Complaint:
At Mortgage Outlet, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service. If a situation arises where a prospective or active client, investor, or lender is dissatisfied, we encourage them to work directly with the mortgage agent or broker to resolve the situation.
If the parties are unable to resolve the complaint directly, we encourage the prospective or active client, investor, or lender to direct their complaint to our Chief Complaints Officer (or designate).
Chief Complaints Officer:
The principal broker of Mortgage Outlet Inc. shall act as the Chief Complaints Officer for the company. Upon receipt of a complaint from a prospective or active client, investor, or lender, the Chief Complaints Officer (or designate), will take immediate action to investigate.
Should the complaint relate to a completed file, the Chief Complaints Officer (or designate) will pull existing documentation on file with the company. The Chief Complaints Officer (or designate) will review the documentation, and then forward the complaint to the specific agent or broker for comment.
Should the complaint relate to a file in progress, the Chief Complaints Officer (or designate) will contact the agent or broker responsible for the file and forward the complaint for comment.
The Complaints Officer (or designate) will respond to all complaints verbally within 2 business days of receipt and will follow up with a written response as quickly as possible.
Should the agent or broker of Mortgage Outlet Inc., responsible for the file, not be forthcoming in dealing with the matter, the Chief Complaints Officer will take all reasonable steps to deal with the matter.
Should the complaint relate to an issue relating to the Mortgage Brokerage Lenders and Administrators Act, all efforts will be made to determine if the transaction was in compliance with the legislation. If a contravention of the legislation is discovered, remedial action will be taken immediately.
Should the complaint relate to a potential claim against the firm’s errors and omissions insurance policy, the Chief Complaints Officer will notify the insurer of the potential claim as soon as possible.
Should the prospective or active client, investor, or lender be dissatisfied with the Brokerage’s proposed resolution, they may forward their complaint to:
